The Macallan expands Harmony collection with tea-inspired single malt whiskies
New limited-edition releases pay tribute to tea craftsmanship through collaboration with UK-based Jing Tea.
UK – The Macallan has unveiled two new limited-edition single malt whiskies in its nature-inspired Harmony Collection, developed in partnership with UK tea company Jing Tea.
The latest releases, Inspired By Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and Inspired By Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, draw flavour inspiration from Jing’s carefully sourced single garden teas.
The Phoenix Honey Orchid expression is influenced by a rare oolong tea grown in Guangdong, China. Known for its dessert wine aromas and exotic fruit notes, the whisky reflects the unique character of the tea.
Bottled at 43.9% ABV, it carries a recommended retail price of £152 (US$202).
The Cherrywood Lapsang edition, available exclusively through global travel retail, takes its influence from Jing’s reimagined lapsang souchong, traditionally smoked over pinewood but here smoked over cherrywood in the UK. The whisky is primarily matured in Sherry-seasoned European oak casks, complemented by Sherry-seasoned American oak casks, and presented at 44.9% ABV.

Jaume Ferras, creative director at The Macallan, emphasized the parallels between the two crafts. “Our collaboration with Jing is a celebration of the parallels between whisky and tea – two crafts deeply rooted in nature, tradition and time,” Ferras said.
“Working with Jing has allowed us to explore new dimensions of flavour and storytelling.”
The new whiskies continue The Macallan’s commitment to innovation within the Harmony Collection, which launched in October 2021 with Inspired by Rich Cacao.
Subsequent releases have included coffee-inspired editions Intense Arabica and Smooth Arabica, as well as collaborations with Stella and Mary McCartney on Amber Meadow and Green Meadow.
In 2024, The Macallan celebrated its 200th anniversary with Vibrant Oak and Guardian Oak, developed in partnership with Cirque du Soleil. The latest tea-inspired expressions further extend the collection’s exploration of craft, nature, and flavour.
