Vietnam’s Dien Bien province begins construction of high-tech pig farm project

VIETNAM – Construction has begun on a high-tech pig farming complex in Muong Pon commune in Vietnam’s Dien Bien province, backed by Lai Chau Agricultural Construction and Development Investment Co., Ltd.

The project carries a total investment of about 120 billion VND (US$4.7 million) and is being developed as a modern livestock production site designed to improve efficiency and biosecurity standards.

The development spans more than 10.5 hectares and includes 16 pig housing units, along with an integrated waste treatment system to manage environmental impact across the site.

Of the total budget, around 80 billion VND (about US$3.1 million) is allocated to construction, while 40 billion VND (about US$1.6 million) is reserved for the acquisition of breeding stock and early-stage operations.

Production at the facility will rely on genetics supplied by PIC Group and feed products from GreenFeed Group, forming a structured supply chain for commercial pig production.

Once fully operational, the farm is designed to house around 300 breeding sows and 3,600 weaned pigs, with expected annual output reaching approximately 8,000 market-ready pigs.

The first batch of livestock is expected to be introduced in December 2026, with full commissioning of the facility scheduled for June 2027, following phased construction and setup.

Beyond production, the operator has outlined plans to expand into pork processing, alongside partnerships with nearby farmers to build a more integrated circular livestock value chain in the region.
