The launch marks a milestone for vida e caffè’s African expansion and reinforces its sustainability commitments.

ZAMBIA – vida e caffè has announced the opening of Sub-Saharan Africa’s first coffee drive-thru outside of South Africa, debuting in Lusaka, Zambia.
Developed in partnership with its master franchisee, Fortune Retail Holding, the new outlet combines convenience and quality, making it easier for customers to enjoy their favourite coffee on the go.
Frank van Asperen, vida e caffè’s GM International, said the launch underscores the brand’s international growth strategy. “vida is benefitting from the strong coffee shop growth potential, our leading position, and innovative spirit to further expand our footprint – from the current seven markets into many more international markets,” he said.
South Africa’s largest coffee chain, vida e caffè, is targeting 500 outlets worldwide by 2028, with plans for further expansion across Africa and the Middle East.
Earlier this year, the company partnered with SPAR stores to introduce full-service coffee and beverage stations alongside vida e caffè’s signature food offering in select SPAR and KWIKSPAR locations nationwide.
In addition to its expansion, vida e caffè has unveiled redesigned still and sparkling water bottles, as well as a new range of flavoured waters, as part of its sustainability efforts.
Previously, bottles were screen-printed, making them non-recyclable. The new fully recyclable wraparound label can be removed easily, supporting a cleaner environment and promoting a circular economy.
Petco director and Polyoak Packaging executive Michelle Penlington said vida e caffè’s efforts retain maximum value from used PET bottles for waste collectors and recyclers.
As a founding member of Petco and the SA Plastics Pact, Polyoak Packaging is working to ensure PET packaging remains a valuable resource, helping create new products, sustain jobs and protect the environment.
