Lineage opens 19,000-square-metre cold storage facility in Bremerhaven, adds 40,000 pallet positions

GERMANY – Lineage has opened a new temperature-controlled distribution centre in Bremerhaven, offering 40,000 pallet positions across 19,000 square metres with direct quay access for efficient movement of fresh and frozen seafood from port to storage.
The facility is designed to serve as a key distribution point for imports arriving from Asia-Pacific markets, including China, before onward distribution across Europe.
Strategic Location and Cold Chain Efficiency
Located at Fischereihafen in the heart of Bremerhaven’s food industry sector, the warehouse has 18 dock doors, enabling rapid transfer of refrigerated containers from vessel to storage. “Bremerhaven is one of Europe’s most important seafood hubs and a strategically important location within our global network. This investment reflects our commitment to developing cold chain infrastructure that ensures high-quality food reaches more people with less waste,” said Claire Walters, Regional Vice President for the Netherlands & Germany at Lineage.
The facility’s direct quay access eliminates overland transport from port to warehouse, reducing handling points and maintaining cold chain integrity for temperature-sensitive seafood shipments. The 40,000 pallet positions provide surge capacity for peak import seasons, preventing congestion-related spoilage.
