The recognition follows strong first half financial results reported earlier this year.

ZAMBIA – Zambeef Products PLC received six awards at the Southern Africa Brand Quality Awards, with recognition including its meat and poultry businesses.
The company was awarded the Platinum prize in the Leading Distributor of Meat Products category, while its animal nutrition business, Novatek, received the Platinum award for Leading Manufacturer of Poultry Feeds and Animal Concentrates.
Zamshu earned the Gold award as Best Manufacturer of Footwear Products, while Zammilk received Gold in the Leading Manufacturer of Dairy Products category.
Zamloaf also secured a Gold award as Leading Manufacturer of Bakery Products, while the company’s chick distribution business received the Silver award in the Leading Distributors of Chicks category.
The company also acknowledged the contribution of its employees, customers and business partners, stating that their continued support had played an important role in achieving the recognition.
The awards come after Zambeef reported a significant improvement in financial performance during the first half of its financial year, supported by stronger operating margins and a more favourable business environment.
For the six months ended 31 March, revenue increased 2.3% to US$152.9 million (ZMW3.93 billion), while gross profit rose 7.2% to US$58.8 million (ZMW1.51 billion).
Operating profit climbed 30.2% to US$12.6 million (ZMW322.7 million), while profit before tax increased 58.0% to US$3.2 million (ZMW82.8 million).
The company also reported a 108.3% increase in first half profit, attributing the improvement to easing inflation, stronger operating margins, a firmer Zambian currency and more reliable electricity supplies.
Chief Executive Officer Faith Mukutu previously said the results demonstrated the company’s ability to perform during a period of economic transition and positioned it for continued growth following the completion of British International Investment’s preference share conversion.
Founded in 1991 as a butcher shop in Lusaka, Zambeef has grown into Zambia’s largest integrated agribusiness, with operations covering crop production, livestock farming, beef, poultry, pork, dairy, animal feed, flour milling, leather processing, food distribution and retail.
