ABD’s Malaysia entry expands its overseas manufacturing strategy as the spirits maker seeks to grow international revenues through asset-light partnerships.

MALAYSIA – Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABD) has entered Malaysia through a co-bottling partnership to manufacture and distribute Officer’s Choice Blue locally, marking the Mumbai-based spirits company’s first overseas local production arrangement.
The company said Officer’s Choice Blue will be available in 750ml, 180ml and 90ml variants under the partnership. ABD will work with an established local partner while retaining control over raw materials, packaging, quality standards and brand stewardship.
The arrangement follows an asset-light model that allows ABD to enter the Malaysian market with limited capital outlay. The company currently exports to 39 international markets and said it has more than doubled its global reach over the past two years.
Managing Director Amar Sinha said the initiative forms part of the company’s strategy to combine international expansion with capital efficiency.
“Malaysia initiative reflects a strategy of combining market expansion with capital efficiency, and that the company intends to scale its portfolio in a measured manner,” Sinha said.
ABD said it may introduce additional brands under the framework in Malaysia, subject to market response. It will also evaluate similar co-production partnerships in other international markets.
The Malaysia partnership comes as ABD continues to expand its international business. International revenues increased 14.1% year on year to Rs.235 crore in FY26 from Rs.206 crore in FY25, accounting for about 6% of consolidated FY26 revenues of Rs.3,922.8 crore.
ABD reported standalone net profit of Rs.68.19 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, up 11.95% from the prior-year period.
As of June 2026, ABD had a presence in 39 countries, more than doubling its international footprint over the previous 21 months. The model supports further portfolio expansion with limited upfront capital requirements.
