The investment forms part of a broader transformation plan to boost productivity and meet Nigeria’s growing soft drinks demand.

NIGERIA – Big Bottling Company Ltd (BBC), a subsidiary of the AJE Group and producers of beverage brands such as Big Cola and Cifrut, has commissioned a new beverage production line to scale operations and address rising consumer demand across Nigeria.
The production line, expected to significantly increase the company’s output across multiple pack sizes, was officially launched by Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Hernan Córdova.
He described the milestone as “a new turn of events” and emphasized its alignment with AJE 2.0—AJE Group’s strategic transformation initiative aimed at driving productivity, expanding market reach, boosting sales, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
The commissioning took place during a special celebration that also recognized long-serving employees and strengthened team morale. The event featured awards and activities intended to appreciate staff commitment and encourage continued excellence.
Commercial Director of BBC, Dennis Cunliffe, highlighted the three-fold significance of the event: the launch of the new production line, team bonding, and the recognition of employees who have shown long-term dedication.
“We felt the need to appreciate and celebrate staff that stood with us through thick and thin,” he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Torres reiterated the company’s commitment to employee welfare and recognition. “We are happy to appreciate and put smiles on the faces of all our staff, especially the awardees, as we celebrate this special day,” he noted, adding that future editions would be even more impactful.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Olayinka Akerele, said the celebration underscored the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and staff appreciation, encouraging employees to remain motivated and forward-looking.
The investment in the new production line comes amid projections of strong growth in Nigeria’s carbonated soft drinks market.
According to the StrategyHelix Group, the sector is expected to grow by US$2.2 billion over the next five years, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 8.1%.
BBC serves as the bottling arm for AJE, one of the world’s largest multinational beverage companies headquartered in Lima, Peru.
The company operates in Nigeria under the ownership of DUET Group, a UK-based private equity firm that acquired a majority stake in AJEAST Nigeria Limited in 2018, with investments exceeding US$50 million.
BBC’s product range includes BIG Orange, BIG Tropical, BIG Green Apple, and BIG Water, available in 650ml, 525ml, and 360ml pack sizes.
