Brenntag opens new food & nutrition innovation center in UK

The Leeds center will focus on several key product categories: bakery, dairy, meat and plant-based products, ready meals, sauces and dips, beverages, and nutrition solutions.

UK – Brenntag Specialties has officially opened its new Innovation & Application Center for Food & Nutrition in Leeds, marking a major investment in the company’s research and development capabilities within the UK.

The facility, located at Lawnswood Business Park, will focus on advancing ingredient innovation and providing tailored technical support to food manufacturers across the UK and Ireland.

The new center will serve as a hub for customer collaboration, offering expertise in ingredient selection, formulation development, and application testing.

Brenntag’s dedicated specialists will work closely with both suppliers and customers to deliver prototype development, stability studies, and customized solutions for a wide variety of food applications.

According to Jerzy Jasinski, Global President Nutrition and President Brenntag Specialties EMEA, the center underscores Brenntag’s commitment to bridging the gap between innovation and the marketplace.

“Brenntag acts as an important link with our customers and suppliers to bring innovation closer to the market. The new Center is a great addition to our strong network of 31 Food & Nutrition Innovation & Application Centres globally, including 13 in the EMEA region,” Jasinski said.

The Leeds center will focus on several key product categories: bakery, dairy, meat and plant-based products, ready meals, sauces and dips, beverages, and nutrition solutions.

These focus areas reflect the growing demand for sustainable, functional, and consumer-driven innovation within the UK’s food industry.

The facility is equipped with advanced food processing and analytical equipment, including MIWE and Combi Rational ovens, meat grinders and tumblers, homogenizers, ice cream and sorbet machines, and tools for sous vide and canning applications.

It also houses analytical instruments such as texture analyzers, viscometers, colorimeters, microscopes, and devices for measuring moisture, pH, Brix, and water activity (aw), enabling detailed product testing and formulation precision.

Strategically located next to Brenntag’s Personal Care Innovation Center and UK headquarters, the site benefits from proximity to suppliers, customers, and Brenntag’s wider operations.

It also connects to Brenntag’s global network of 71 industry-focused innovation centers, enabling the exchange of expertise and best practices across markets.

With this new facility, Brenntag strengthens its position as a partner for food innovation, helping brands across the UK and beyond deliver high-quality, science-driven products that meet evolving consumer expectations.
