Bühler launches CompactMix, a new energy-efficient processing line designed to enhance flexibility and consistency in chocolate production.

SWITZERLAND – Bühler has introduced CompactMix, a new processing line that integrates advanced mixing and grinding technologies to deliver high precision, consistent quality, and energy efficiency in chocolate and confectionery manufacturing.
The innovative system enables the efficient production of confectionery masses for a wide range of applications, including spreads, fillings, praline centers, and coatings for snack bars and ice cream.
According to Bühler, the global rise in demand for on-the-go products such as filled biscuits, wafers, and snack bars has created a need for flexible production systems capable of handling diverse recipes.
CompactMix addresses this demand through its combination of ShearMix mixing technology and the Aurora ball mill, which work together to ensure optimal blending and particle size reduction.
The ShearMix system uses a spiral agitator to achieve rapid and uniform mixing, while the Aurora ball mill reduces particle sizes to below 20 microns, producing smooth and uniform textures. The system can accommodate both low-fat and high-fat recipes, offering producers flexibility in chocolate mass production.
Additionally, CompactMix consumes up to 30% less energy compared to conventional systems.
Designed with efficiency and hygiene in mind, CompactMix allows quick product changeovers with minimal waste and cleaning time of under two hours. Its enclosed design supports global food safety standards, while its modular scalability, ranging from 400 kg/h to 3000 kg/h, makes it suitable for both small-scale and industrial production.
The system also features integrated digital solutions, providing manufacturers with real-time monitoring, recipe management, and smart control functions to optimize consistency and reduce waste.
“CompactMix gives manufacturers the freedom to craft premium chocolate spreads, fillings, and coatings with exceptional quality and consistency,” said Skeljzen Nesimi, Head of Product Management for Chocolate & Coffee at Bühler.
He added that the new solution empowers customers to “rethink chocolate production,” supported by Bühler’s full suite of technologies and expertise spanning every stage of the chocolate manufacturing process.
