Coca-Cola to close Ho Chi Minh City factory after 30 years, shifts operations to Tay Ninh
Coca-Cola Vietnam relocates production to its new Tay Ninh facility as its Ho Chi Minh City plant reaches term expiration.
VIETNAM – Coca-Cola has confirmed it will shut down its factory in Ho Chi Minh City on September 27, 2025, concluding a 30-year operational term.
The facility, located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street in Linh Xuan Ward, was licensed in 1995 and is closing as stipulated under Vietnamese investment laws. Operations will transition to the company’s newly opened factory in Tay Ninh Province.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, Clause 1, Article 48 of the Law on Investment 2020 requires investors to terminate projects upon expiration of their operational term.
Under the same legislation and Decree 102/2024/ND-CP, investors may use the land for up to 24 months after termination to complete liquidation, resolve land-use rights, and dispose of assets.
Coca-Cola Vietnam had earlier sought a two-year extension beyond September 2025 to dismantle and relocate equipment, move warehouses, and complete environmental restoration before returning the site. The request received approval, enabling a smoother transition to the new production hub.
In preparation for the shift, Coca-Cola Vietnam inaugurated a US$136 million factory on July 11 in Phu An Thanh Industrial Park, Tay Ninh Province.
The 19-hectare facility, the company’s largest in Vietnam, houses five advanced filling and bottling lines with a capacity of up to one billion liters per year. It is also the first food and beverage facility in Vietnam to achieve LEED Gold green building certification.
Coca-Cola remains one of Vietnam’s largest beverage investors, with factories in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Tay Ninh. The company works with one million retailers nationwide, supporting 4,000 direct jobs and about 20,000 indirect ones.
According to Swire Coca-Cola’s annual report, sales volume in Vietnam reached 154 million units in 2024—equivalent to 874 million liters—making the country its third-largest market after mainland China and the United States.
