Daily’s Premium Meats to expand bacon plant with US$95M investment
The expansion is meant to add 111,000 square feet and around 100 jobs as production capacity is upgraded
USA – Daily’s Premium Meats is putting US$95 million into enlarging its bacon processing facility in St. Joseph, Missouri.
The company plans to increase the plant’s footprint by 111,000 square feet, with construction expected to wrap up by mid-2026.
The new section will house bacon production areas, smokehouses, slicing rooms, and additional warehousing space.
Daily’s, jointly owned by Seaboard Foods and Triumph Foods, confirmed that the expansion will result in around 100 new positions at the site.
The added capacity is intended to serve both foodservice and retail markets across the United States.
In a separate statement, the Missouri Department of Economic Development reported that the St. Joseph site currently accounts for 2.5% of the nation’s bacon supply.
With the planned upgrades, the agency estimates the plant’s share of national production could double to 5%.
Governor Mike Kehoe said the company’s move to expand operations in the region reflects the area’s manufacturing workforce and business environment.
Alongside the expansion, Daily’s will also overhaul parts of the facility originally opened in 2016 to accommodate newer technology and processes.
Vice President and General Manager Joe Richmond said the development supports the company’s continued role in the St. Joseph community and will bring more employment opportunities.
New systems will include in-line slicing tools and automated equipment for sizing and docking pork bellies prior to palletisation.
These changes are aimed at streamlining production, improving yields, and enhancing operational efficiency across the board.
State Support and Broader Operations
The Missouri Department of Economic Development noted that the investment qualifies for support under the Missouri Works programme.
The initiative offers incentives to businesses that are expanding and creating jobs by providing tax benefits or withholding options tied to employment growth.
Daily’s Premium Meats also operates processing plants in Missoula, Montana, and Salt Lake City, Utah.
The St. Joseph facility serves as one of the company’s key locations for producing bacon products used nationwide.
