The joint venture positions both companies to capitalize on the projected growth of the Asian fresh-cut market.

CHINA – Del Monte Corporation has established a joint venture with Riverking, a prominent Chinese agricultural firm, to enter China’s fresh-cut fruit market.
The partnership combines Del Monte’s brand, packaging, and fresh-cut experience and technology with Riverking’s local sourcing, distribution, and customer networks.
Meanwhile, the venture targets China’s growing fresh-cut fruit market, where rising consumer demand for convenient and safe produce is driving rapid expansion.
According to DataIntelo’s 2026 Fresh-cut Produce Market report, Asia is the fastest-growing region in the global fresh-cut produce market. China is expected to account for about 45% of the region’s fresh-cut produce market by 2034.
“This partnership with Riverking marks a significant step into China’s fresh-cut fruit market, giving Del Monte a strong platform to deepen our foothold across Asia and bring consumers quality, convenient fruit options they can trust,” said Mohammed Abbas, President and COO of Del Monte Corporation.
The agreement was announced during Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, where Abbas met with Mr. Zhang Ming, Founder of Riverking Group, to mark the partnership.
“We are honoured to partner with Del Monte, whose name has stood for quality and trust for over 135 years. This joint venture combines Del Monte’s fresh-cut expertise with Riverking’s local knowledge and distribution network. Together, we are well-positioned to bring Chinese consumers premium, safe, and convenient fresh-cut fruit products,” said Mr. Zhang Ming, Founder and Chairman of Riverking Group.
The long-term goals for this fruit partnership in Asia include delivering branded, safe, and convenient fresh-cut fruit to Chinese consumers, deepening Del Monte’s foothold across Asia, setting a new standard in the fresh-cut fruit category, and capturing a significant share of China’s rapidly growing fresh-cut produce market.
Furthermore, the joint venture positions both companies to capitalize on the projected growth of the Asian fresh-cut market. By combining Del Monte’s global expertise with Riverking’s local market knowledge, the partnership delivers a competitive offering in the Chinese fresh-cut fruit sector.
As the fresh-cut market continues to expand, this partnership is well-positioned to capture significant market share and establish a strong presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing fresh-produce segments.
Lastly, the collaboration reflects broader trends in the Asian fresh-cut market, where consumer demand for convenience, safety, and quality continues to drive innovation and investment.
