Ethiopian Cargo partners with CargoAi to expand digital booking access

This partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to digital excellence and the broader automation of the global air cargo ecosystem.

ETHIOPIA – Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has partnered with CargoAi, an AI-driven digital platform for the air cargo industry, as part of its digital transformation strategy, enabling more than 30,000 freight forwarders worldwide to access real-time rates and eBooking capabilities through CargoAi’s platform, according to a joint statement.

The integration will provide freight forwarders with access to Ethiopian Cargo’s global capacity and pricing via the CargoAi marketplace, along with direct connections to leading Transport Management Systems (TMS).

The move is expected to improve rate visibility, automate booking processes, and expand access across multiple digital booking environments within Ethiopian Cargo’s network.

Digital interline capabilities

The partnership will also enable Ethiopian Cargo to use CargoAi’s digital interline capabilities, supporting more efficient and transparent collaboration with airline partners through digital interline bookings and shared capacity management.

Leadership Insights

Dereje Derero, Managing Director of Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, said: “Partnering with CargoAi allows us to bring our services closer to freight forwarders worldwide by offering a modern and seamless booking experience. This step reinforces our commitment to innovation and to delivering agile, data-driven solutions that meet the evolving needs of the global air cargo industry.”

CargoAi CEO Matthieu Petot said the company is pleased to bring Ethiopian Cargo into its digital ecosystem, calling the partnership a step toward greater digitalization in air cargo.

He highlighted the shared focus on digital excellence, noting that real-time access to capacity and pricing is expected to give freight forwarders greater visibility and expand Ethiopian Cargo’s global digital reach.

AI and automation

CargoAi specializes in AI-driven digital solutions for the air cargo industry and is building on existing data connections among airlines, freight forwarders, ground handling agents, and airports.

The company is deploying AI workers and agents to automate and optimize air cargo workflows across the ecosystem.

Ethiopian Cargo network context

The partnership follows Ethiopian Airlines’ expansion of its freighter operations. The carrier is in talks with Boeing to purchase eight to ten long-haul freighters, including two current-generation Boeing 777Fs and six to eight next-generation Boeing 777-8Fs.

Moreover, Ethiopian Cargo carried 897,000 tons in 2025, up 16% from the previous year, and serves more than 70 cargo destinations.

Ultimately, this partnership reflects both companies’ commitment to digital excellence and the broader automation of the global air cargo ecosystem, with Ethiopian Cargo maintaining a focus on innovation and digital expansion.
