Heineken appoints Alex Carreteiro as Americas Regional President

New leadership appointment aims to strengthen Heineken’s operations and accelerate transformation across the Americas region.

AMERICAS – Heineken has named Alex Carreteiro as Regional President for the Americas and a member of the Heineken Executive Team, effective March 1, 2026.

Carreteiro, who currently serves as CEO of PepsiCo Brazil & South Cone Foods, will take over the role previously held by Marc Busain, who departed the company on October 1, 2025.

Carreteiro joins Heineken after leading PepsiCo’s operations across Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, overseeing 16,000 employees and 10 manufacturing plants.

During his tenure, the company’s Brazilian business doubled in size and achieved notable gains in market share and household penetration. In 2024, PepsiCo recognized the Brazilian operation as its Global Business Unit of the Year.

Before his role at PepsiCo, Carreteiro spent nearly two decades with Nestlé, holding leadership positions in Europe and the Americas. His most recent role was Vice President for the North America region, covering the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

He previously served as CEO of the Latin Caribbean region and Managing Director of Nestlé Waters in both Brazil and Portugal.

Carreteiro’s career spans extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, with a track record that includes mergers and acquisitions, integration management, and building high-performing teams. His background also reflects expertise in sales, finance, and general management, with exposure to both mature and developing markets.

Heineken CEO and Chairman of the Board Dolf van den Brink said Carreteiro’s appointment aligns with the company’s ambitions for accelerated growth and transformation within the Americas.

He noted that Carreteiro brings strategic insight, operational strength, and a leadership approach consistent with the company’s long-term EverGreen strategy.

Carreteiro is expected to guide Heineken’s commercial and operational priorities across the region, leveraging his experience in strengthening market share and cultivating strong industry partnerships.

The appointment follows Heineken’s recent expansion in Brazil, where the company inaugurated a new brewery in Passos, Minas Gerais. The facility, built with an investment exceeding €400 million, spans an area comparable to 150 football fields.

The new brewery is powered by renewable energy and features sustainable biomass boilers for thermal energy, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable production.

Carreteiro will be based in the Americas region and assume full responsibilities upon officially joining Heineken in March 2026.
