illycaffè secures B Corp recertification under new V2 standards

The Italian coffee company’s renewed certification introduces stricter performance requirements as illycaffè continues its focus on environmental, social and economic objectives.

ITALY – illycaffè has secured B Corp recertification under B Lab’s new V2 standards, reaffirming its commitment to integrating environmental, social and economic objectives into corporate decision-making.

The B Corp framework introduces more structured requirements and greater emphasis on measurable performance and continuous improvement. It assesses companies across areas including governance and business purpose, climate action, human rights, fair work, environmental stewardship, equity, diversity and inclusion, and collective action.

For illycaffè, recertification forms part of its approach to managing impact across its stakeholder network, including coffee-growing communities, employees, partners, consumers and operating territories.

“Being part of the B Corp movement means embracing a vision of business that measures success not only through economic results, but also through the ability to contribute responsibly and consistently to the wellbeing of people, communities, and the environment,” said Cristina Scocchia, CEO of illycaffè.

“Recertification under the new standards is an important achievement and, at the same time, a further incentive to continue our journey of improvement with rigor, transparency, and consistency with the values that have always guided the way we do business,” Scocchia added.

Juliette Caulkins, Managing Director of B Lab Europe, said the recertification demonstrated illycaffè’s willingness to undergo independent verification against global standards.

“As a Certified B Corporation, illycaffè has been verified as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability,” Caulkins said.

B Lab’s updated certification system uses detailed requirements and focuses on progressive improvement. The organisation evaluates companies on social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Founded in Trieste in 1933, illycaffè produces a 100% Arabica blend and operates across more than 140 countries. The company says more than 10 million cups of illy coffee are consumed daily through cafés, restaurants, hotels, single-brand cafés, homes and offices.

illycaffè also operates the University of Coffee, providing education and training for coffee growers, baristas and consumers in 24 countries.

illycaffè reported consolidated revenue of €373 million in the first half of 2026, a 19% increase from the same period in 2025. Growth was driven by strong volumes across markets, particularly Italy and the United States, with double-digit growth across sales channels.

For 2025, illycaffè reported consolidated annual revenue of €700 million.
