Texas-based distributor increases footprint in beef, pork, and poultry categories through latest deal

USA – PAK Quality Foods LLC, a meat and food distributor backed by Cross Rapids Capital, is acquiring the assets of Formosa Foods, a Dallas-based company known for supplying a range of animal proteins to customers across the southern United States.
The deal includes the purchase of substantially all assets of Las Colinas International, Inc., which operates under the name Formosa Foods.
Formosa Foods supplies beef, pork, poultry, lamb, and seafood to foodservice and institutional clients in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
The company, founded in 1979, also provides goat meat, dry goods, grains, and disposable items, but its meat offerings remain a key part of its customer base.
With the acquisition, PAK Quality Foods aims to expand the variety of meat products it distributes and increase market penetration in neighboring states.
Operations to Continue Under Existing Leadership
As part of the agreement, Formosa’s owners Jesse and Weldon Chang will remain in charge of the day-to-day operations.
In addition to staying on in leadership roles, the Chang family has taken an ownership stake in PAK Quality Foods through an investment in the company.
This continuity in management is intended to ensure a seamless transition for existing customers of Formosa Foods.
PAK Quality Foods operates distribution centers in Fort Worth and San Angelo and currently serves institutional, retail, and foodservice clients throughout Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
Its product range includes beef, pork, poultry, lamb, seafood, cheeses, oils, and dry goods, with a focus on timely delivery and reliable availability.
According to PAK Quality Foods CEO John Pieper, the acquisition enables both companies to extend their customer reach and offer a wider selection of products.
He added that the companies share a similar approach to customer service and product quality.
Investment Support from Cross Rapids Capital
The transaction is backed by Cross Rapids Capital L.P., a firm that invests in middle-market industrial and service businesses across North America.
Cross Rapids Capital partners with management teams and founders to help grow companies through operational improvements and long-term planning.
Neither party disclosed the financial details of the transaction, and the deal closed without mention of any workforce changes.
