Spinneys opens new supermarket at Radiant Square on Abu Dhabi’s Al Reem Island

Opening supports the supermarket chain’s continued expansion

UAE – Spinneys has opened a new supermarket at Radiant Square on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi, expanding its presence in the United Arab Emirates as it continues to grow its premium grocery retail network.

The new outlet offers a range of fresh produce, an in-store bakery, a deli hot counter, salad bar, fresh juices, coffee and grab-and-go meal options designed to meet the daily shopping needs of residents.

Customers will also have access to a full range of dairy and frozen products, alongside fresh meat and seafood, while the store includes a flower section offering floral products for home and gift purchases.

The company said the new supermarket reflects its continued commitment to providing quality products and customer service while improving access to fresh food within local communities.

More about Spinneys

Founded in 1924 by Arthur Rawdon Spinney in Alexandria, Egypt, Spinneys entered the UAE market in the early 1960s with its first store in Dubai and has since grown into one of the region’s leading premium supermarket operators.

The retailer now operates around 80 stores across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman under the Spinneys, Waitrose and Al Fair brands.

Spinneys holds an estimated 27% share of Dubai’s premium grocery retail segment, competing with major supermarket operators including Carrefour and Lulu Hypermarket.

The retailer reported record revenue of approximately US$880 million (AED3.23 billion) in 2024, representing a 12.3% increase from the previous year, while profit rose 13.9% to approximately US$79 million (AED290 million).

The company has continued to invest in expanding its store network across the Gulf region, with additional outlets planned in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, alongside preparations for entry into the Kuwait market.

Spinneys has also expanded its private label portfolio through its SpinneysFOOD range while strengthening online grocery services and developing food concepts such as The Kitchen by Spinneys as part of its strategy to meet growing demand for premium fresh food and convenience shopping.
