Trouw Nutrition showcases poultry nutrition research at World’s Poultry Congress
Studies focused on improving nutrient efficiency, flock resilience, gut health and production performance through science based feeding strategies.
CANADA – Trouw Nutrition, the livestock feed business of Nutreco, presented new findings on science-based poultry nutrition during the 27th World’s Poultry Congress.
The company delivered seven oral presentations highlighting research into precision nutrition strategies designed to improve nutrient utilisation, flock resilience and production efficiency in modern poultry systems.
Scientists presented results from studies conducted at Trouw Nutrition’s poultry research centres, commercial farms and through collaborations with university partners.
Research examined the optimisation of dietary calcium and digestible phosphorus to improve skeletal development, nutrient digestibility and growth performance during key stages of poultry production.
The studies also assessed phase-specific calcium and phosphorus feeding programmes for broiler chickens, providing information on how changes in nutrient requirements influence body composition and production performance across different growth stages.
Trouw Nutrition also presented research demonstrating how predictive nutritional modelling can help poultry producers evaluate the biological and financial outcomes of different feeding programmes.
According to the company, combining animal performance data with nutritional and economic indicators enables producers to formulate diets more accurately and improve returns on feed investment.
Studies examine gut health and flock resilience
The research programme also addressed gut health, with studies evaluating nutritional interventions to strengthen intestinal function and improve flock resilience under commercial production conditions.
One study investigated the relationship between low-crude-protein diets and antibiotic-free production systems, measuring their effects on growth performance, organ development, and body composition in broiler chicks.
Researchers also examined changes in nutrient utilisation after fatty liver syndrome challenges in laying hens, providing new information on the long-term physiological effects of the condition and the role of nutrition in supporting recovery.
Additional findings focused on the company’s PhytoComplex technologies and their potential to improve birds’ ability to cope with production and environmental stress.
Alongside the research presentations, Trouw Nutrition organised an expert session titled From Insight to Impact: Transforming Poultry Nutrition, featuring presentations on trace mineral nutrition, predictive feeding strategies and plant-based nutritional solutions for poultry production.
