Vertical Cold Storage acquires 13th refrigerated warehouse facility in Dothan

Vertical Cold Storage plans to deploy its warehouse management technology, safety, and food quality programs across the new facility.

UNITED STATES – Vertical Cold Storage has acquired a refrigerated warehouse in Dothan, Alabama, from Dothan Warehouse, representing the company’s 13th facility and its second location in Dothan, with temperatures ranging from 34° to 50°F and rail service by CSX.

Vertical Cold Storage acquired the Dothan freezer warehouse from Dothan Warehouse in August 2024, converting the site to its standard warehouse management system and integrating it into its national network.

Regional Impact on Peanut and Poultry Industries

Jim Henderson, Chief Commercial Officer of Vertical Cold Storage, said: “We’re excited to continue to expand upon the strong, long-term relationships that Dothan Warehouse has established with local peanut customers. Our nearby freezer facility primarily supports local poultry producers, offering blast freezing, freezer storage, and export services. Acquiring the refrigerated warehouse shows our commitment to support additional food producers in the region.”

Network Integration and Technology

Vertical Cold Storage plans to deploy its warehouse management technology, safety, and food quality programs across the new facility.

By integrating this new site into its national logistics network, the company aims to implement modern management technology and rigorous quality standards.

This integration ensures customers experience consistent high standards across all 13 locations.

Turner Jones, President of Dothan Warehouse, said: “We had a very positive experience with Vertical Cold Storage on the sale of our frozen distribution centre, and I am pleased to transition the refrigerated warehouse to the same team. Vertical Cold is easy to work with, understands the needs of producers in this region, values our long-term relationships, and is committed to investing in the infrastructure that will keep Dothan growing as a food logistics hub.”

This strategic move diversifies services offered to local agricultural businesses while supporting regional producers with specialized cold chain solutions.

As Vertical Cold Storage continues to expand its national footprint, the company reinforces its role in the global food supply chain by providing temperature-controlled distribution centres that support both regional agricultural producers and broader export markets.

Lastly, the acquisition demonstrates Vertical Cold’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that will keep Dothan growing as a food logistics hub while strengthening the area’s reputation as a major food distribution hub for peanut and poultry producers.
