The investment comes as the company diversifies its portfolio.

ARGENTINA – Argentine fruit producer Tres Ases has opened a state-of-the-art climate-controlled ripening facility in Cipolletti, enabling precise regulation of fruit maturation to deliver ready-to-eat produce throughout the year.
Advanced technology enables the company to precisely control storage temperatures and ethylene exposure, eliminating seasonal supply gaps that previously frustrated retailers and consumers.
“This development allows us to have greater control over the process and guarantee our customers predictability and fruit at its peak ripeness,” said Gabriel Grisanti, the company’s president.
The investment arrives as Tres Ases continues diversifying its portfolio, most recently adding bananas through a partnership with Tropical Argentina.
For regional investors, smart ripening technology boosts profitability by reducing post-harvest losses. Industry data indicate that improper ripening accounts for up to 15% of fruit waste in South American supply chains.
By contrast, precision-controlled facilities can extend shelf life by five to seven days, enabling access to distant markets and commanding premium prices for consistently ripe produce.
This model offers a blueprint for reducing supply-chain waste. Many emerging markets lack centralized ripening infrastructure, forcing retailers to accept inconsistent quality or import pre-ripened fruit at a higher cost. Precision ripening facilities located near consumption centers could transform this dynamic.
Tres Ases stated that the new facility will support the growth of the local fruit industry, which is considered strategic for the regional economy, and generate new jobs for workers in Cipolletti and surrounding areas.
The economic impact extends beyond employment. Advanced storage facilities attract ancillary investment in logistics, packaging, and cold-chain transport. For investors, the ripening facility model offers multiple entry points: technology supply, facility construction and operation, and offtake agreements with retailers seeking consistent quality.
Tres Ases can now guarantee consistent quality for its customer base across the Río Negro and Neuquén regions. The investment comes as the company diversifies its portfolio.
As global consumers demand year-round access to premium fruit, precision ripening is shifting from a competitive advantage to an operational necessity.
Tres Ases has positioned itself accordingly, demonstrating that controlled-environment technology can stabilize revenues, reduce exposure to volatile fresh-market pricing, and deliver ready-to-eat produce year-round.
