This strategic shift marks a significant streamlining of the Swedish food company’s portfolio.

SWEDEN – Dole plc, through its subsidiary Dole Nordic AB, has successfully acquired the fresh produce division of Swedish food company Greenfood AB, a strategic move that increases the international fruit giant’s market share and logistics reach across Sweden, Finland, and other Nordic countries.
The acquisition brings Dole an approximately 285,000-square-foot fresh produce distribution facility in Helsingborg, Sweden, providing a strong platform for targeted investment in next-generation warehouse technology.
The strategic expansion will allow Dole to implement advanced warehouse automation at the Helsingborg hub, enhancing operational efficiency and enabling faster, more reliable delivery to retail customers across the region.
As a result, this technological advancement positions Dole to better serve growing consumer demand for fresh produce in the Nordic market.
The company noted that this pivot enables Greenfood to prioritize its Picadeli business and pre-packaged meal innovations, leveraging its expertise in convenience foods while exiting the capital-intensive fresh-produce distribution sector. This strategic shift marks a significant streamlining of the Swedish food company’s portfolio.
The deal, first announced in December 2025, is expected to expand Dole’s scale and capabilities across Sweden, Finland, and other Nordic nations, strengthening its competitive position in a region with growing demand for fresh produce.
In addition, Dole Nordic AB will integrate GFP’s operations, including its established customer relationships and logistics network, into its existing Nordic business structure. The acquisition provides Dole with an expanded distribution footprint and enhanced capacity to serve both retail and foodservice customers throughout the region.
Furthermore, this transaction ultimately strengthens Dole’s footprint in the Nordic region while streamlining Greenfood’s portfolio. For Dole, the acquisition represents a significant investment in Northern European infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to the region and providing a platform for future growth.
Meanwhile, the Helsingborg facility will serve as a key distribution hub, enabling Dole to optimize its supply chain and reduce transit times to customers across Scandinavia. The deal also brings established relationships with Nordic retailers, providing immediate market access and customer base expansion.
To sum up, this marks a significant pivot for both organizations, with one scaling its agricultural supply chain and the other prioritizing convenience-food innovation.
