SBFE surpassed its recycled plastic target and advanced sugar reduction efforts as it continued implementing sustainability initiatives across operations and supply chains.

EUROPE – Suntory Beverage & Food Europe (SBFE) has reported a 20% reduction in its carbon footprint compared with 2019 levels, according to its 2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting progress across emissions, packaging and product reformulation initiatives.
The company said emissions from its own operations declined by 22%, while emissions across its wider value chain fell by 20% during the period.
As part of its environmental strategy, SBFE conducted its first nature assessment to identify areas where its operations and supply chain have the greatest impacts and dependencies on natural resources.
The company also partnered with Pilario to evaluate the environmental impact of products and packaging during the development stage.
SBFE reported significant progress in packaging sustainability, with recycled plastic content across its portfolio reaching 53% in 2025, surpassing its target of 50%. The achievement was supported by brand-level initiatives, including the transition of Schweppes bottles to 100% recycled plastic.
The beverage company also continued efforts to reformulate products and reduce sugar content. According to the report, added sugar across its portfolio has been reduced by 33% compared with 2015 levels. In France, the sugar content of Oasis Tropical has been lowered by 44% from its original recipe.
SBFE aims to reduce total sugar across its portfolio by 40% by 2030 and ensure that at least two-thirds of its products contain less than 5g of sugar per 100ml by the same year.
“In 2025, sustainability did not get easier – but it became even more essential,” said Pierre Decroix, Chief Executive Officer of Suntory Beverage & Food Europe.
“This report reflects the determination of our teams to keep moving forward: cutting emissions, advancing circular packaging and supporting our communities, even in a turbulent external environment.”
“Progress is rarely linear, but our Growing for Good mindset continues to guide how we build long-term value for society and for our business,” he added.
Beyond environmental initiatives, SBFE donated more than €1.17 million to charitable causes during the year, while employees contributed over 4,500 volunteer hours across Europe.
Looking ahead, the company said it will focus on implementing its Climate Transition Plan, accelerating action in packaging and agriculture, and strengthening resilience amid evolving sustainability requirements.
