Maqta Ayla launches AI truck system for 4,000 daily movements at Aqaba Port
The system, which initially handled approximately 2,000 trucks per day, now processes between 3,500 and 4,000 trucks daily in coordination with Maqta Ayla, with traffic exceeding 4,500 trucks on peak days.
JORDAN – The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Aqaba Development Corporation, and Abu Dhabi Ports Group have launched Maqta Ayla Digital Solutions to manage and operate Aqaba’s truck control and monitoring system via an integrated digital platform, leveraging AI to streamline cargo movements.
The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency and strengthen Aqaba’s competitiveness as a regional trade and logistics hub on the Red Sea.
Truck Management and AI Integration
Maqta Ayla has already completed the first phase of the truck movement management project, which uses advanced digital technologies and artificial intelligence to streamline cargo movements, reduce waiting times, and improve the overall efficiency of logistics operations in Aqaba.

Digital Transformation and Regional Competitiveness
ASEZA Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment Mohammad Abu Omar said that Aqaba has been a regional pioneer in organized port logistics since the introduction of the truck control project in 2005.
He described Maqta Ayla as a strategic partner in advancing ASEZA’s vision to deploy cutting-edge technology and innovation to improve the investment environment and attract high-value investment.
Abu Omar also commended the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, Jordan Customs, security agencies, port and logistics companies, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the initiative’s success.
ADC CEO Hussein Safadi said the launch marks a significant milestone in strengthening Aqaba’s digital infrastructure and reflects the success of strategic partnerships with leading global operators, including AD Ports Group.
Partnership and Strategic Vision
Noatum Ports CEO Mohamed Tamimi described the launch as another milestone in the group’s expanding partnership with Jordan. The company will manage, operate, and further develop Aqaba’s truck control and monitoring system via an integrated digital platform to improve logistics efficiency.
Moreover, the strategic partnership between ADC and AD Ports Group brings international expertise in port digitalization to Aqaba.
In the end, this initiative highlights a successful partnership between Jordanian authorities and international operators to upgrade critical infrastructure with advanced technology.
