On the sidelines of the exhibition, Farouk met officials to strengthen agricultural cooperation between Egypt and Spain.

EGYPT – Egypt has intensified efforts to expand fresh produce exports and access new markets, with 90 companies participating in Fruit Attraction 2026 in Madrid, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk highlighted these priorities at the exhibition and attended the opening on October 6.
During the event, Farouk met with Egyptian and international exhibitors, investors and business representatives to explore opportunities to expand agricultural trade and improve access to overseas markets.
The minister emphasized the importance of direct engagement between Egyptian exporters and international buyers to negotiate supply contracts and establish export programmes ahead of Egypt’s upcoming fresh produce export season.
Farouk also outlined Egypt’s efforts to improve the investment environment for private companies in agriculture and related industries, with priority areas including agro-processing, modern cultivation technologies, agricultural packaging and land reclamation.
These areas focus on added value rather than raw volume, a strategic shift for a sector that has historically exported primarily unprocessed produce, leaving margins on the table for importers and processors in destination markets.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Farouk met officials to strengthen agricultural cooperation between Egypt and Spain, including knowledge exchange, trade development and opportunities to facilitate Egyptian agricultural exports to additional markets.
Egypt’s participation reflects its continued focus on strengthening international trade partnerships and expanding investment opportunities across the agricultural value chain.
In addition, Farouk stressed that maintaining and expanding access to international markets requires ongoing improvements to agricultural quality standards and export procedures, with key priorities including quality control, product coding, shipment traceability and phytosanitary measures to ensure compliance with importing countries’ requirements.
For exporters, these measures are not optional overhead but the practical conditions for retaining access to premium markets, particularly in the European Union, where border inspections and residue monitoring have tightened.
Moreover, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation is working to address obstacles facing exporters and to facilitate the entry of Egyptian agricultural products into additional markets.
Finally, Farouk noted that the previous edition of Fruit Attraction attracted more than 120,000 visitors from 145 countries and about 2,200 exhibitors from 59 countries, highlighting the exhibition’s role as a platform for building buyer relationships ahead of the export season.
